Ganguro girls

Have anyone seen this? When I first saw this I was like.... what is this? I couldn't stop looking away. I  know what was hot in Japan will probably be cool in the rest of the world 10 years later.  Personally I would not attempt this look. However I find it interesting to see what the context of beauty is in other countries. Strange as it is, this trend is spreading like wild fire.

The blog Pale is the new tan grabbed this shot. I think they were making fun of sunless tanner addiction and failed to see they actually caught some Danish Ganguro Girls.

From pale is the new tan.
I can totally see and understand our young Emo generation moving to this if Hippsterism is not for them.

What is it? Ganguro girls by definition from Wikipedia.orghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganguro_girl would be: Ganguro (ガングロ; "Black Face Girls") is an alternative fashion trend of blonde or orange hair and tanned skin among young Japanese women that peaked in popularity around the year 2000, but remains evident today. The Shibuya and Ikebukuro districts of Tokyo are the center of ganguro fashion.

Ganguro appeared as a new fashion style in Japan in the early 1990s and to date is prevalent mostly among young women and women in their early 20s. In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as "high bleached". Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-coloured outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and lots of bracelets, rings, and necklaces.

Ganguro falls into the larger subculture of gyaru (from English "gal"), a slang term used for various groups of young women, usually referring to overly childish or rebellious girls. Researchers in the field of Japanese studies believe that ganguro is a form of revenge against traditional Japanese society due to resentment of neglect, isolation, and constraint of Japanese society. This is their attempt at individuality, self-expression, and freedom, in open defiance of school standards and regulations.[2] Fashion magazines like Egg and Kawaii magazine have had a direct influence on the ganguro. Other popular ganguro magazines include Popteen and Ego System. The ganguro culture is often linked with para para, a Japanese dance style. However, most para para dancers are not ganguro, and most ganguro are not para para dancers, though there are many who are ganguro or gal and dance para para.

One of the most famous early ganguro girls was known as Buriteri, nicknamed after the black soy sauce used to flavor yellowtail fish in teriyaki cooking. Egg made her a star by frequently featuring her in its pages during the height of the ganguro craze. After modelling and advertising for the Shibuya tanning salon "Blacky", social pressure and negative press convinced Buriteri to retire from the ganguro lifestyle.[3]

As for style goes. I'm still waiting for Rhinstone Cowgirl to hit big in Japan. I would love to see it. Be it  Milan, Paris, London or New York City. Tokyo for me will always be the most creative and inspiring fo the fashion world. Be in Ganguro, Gothic Lolita, Maid Cafe, Kongol, Lolita, Cosplay or Harajuku.

Science to what you wear

Happy Wednesday Lovlies!

Monday I was watching the Tyra show and she had a very interesting topic. Did you know there is a science to what you wear to get what you want? I can't remember everything. I was getting ready for class when she was on HOWEVER I remember about 90%. Roughly. The important parts. Mostly. Anyways I was talking to my friend Marina aka YoungestSenior on Twitter because I have been obsessed with finding the right black dress to wear on job interviews. I found one through Chadwicks and she said it was cute, which resulted in a twitter spasm on my end about what I saw on Tyra on Monday. It's all about what you wear not exactly who you wear. So I thought I should do a recap on this. Which would I thought would be very interesting.

Here it is:

What to attract men: Wear Red. There is one little stipulation you'll attract everything. So you have to have patients while weeding out Mr.Right. Not unless settling for Mr. Right Now is what you are looking for.

Keep in mind don't wear red lips with red dress. Go with nude lips with some gloss which is preferred. Go with a smokey eye. That usually slays them. It was mentioned that a sexy nude lip was most desirable. Yes, we ladies prefer to slather on th ellipstick, sometimes coating with a gloss. But I actually took this from my man's perspective which is if he wore all that stuff, I wouldn't want to kiss him either. Shoot, I can't even handle smely dorito breath let alone slimy lips.

Wear blue to show fidelity. Might cut down on how many guys you have to weed through to find the right now.

What to wear to get the job: a black dress w/ pumps. Not a suit. Wear a nice piece of statement jewelry so that you will be remembered. 9 times out of 10 you will be interviewed by at least 1 woman. Wear cool jewelry and you'll stand out. BECAUSE the woman on the team will remember that and would like to see you back. Probably to ask you where you found said jewelry piece. Plus black dress with pumps sheer black pantyhose actually make you look very pulled together. Skirt suit. Very 80's retro chic. Which is not too good. This is a tough market gotta fight it out. So look your best.

Going to the Beach:One piece bathing suits are more sexy than two piece bathing suits. personally with the amount of ink I have I avoid the sun like a vampire or cover up in as much as possible when it is summer time. BUT if you are looking for a bathing suit one pieces are more desirable. The reason for this is because you want an air of mystery. Only show 40% or less of skin. Keep them guessing.

Hot Date:Speaking about shapes. What to wear on a first date? Try a nice form flattering dress. You are trying to display your waist:hip ratio. Again stick to the 40% rule.Guys are still have a little cavemen in them. So when they see small hips and supple hips they are going ga ga. Most men (I can't say all.) Really want a woman with womanly figure. So show it off. Think of the movie sirens as of the late 40's and 50's.

*If memory serves correctly it's the Waist hip ratio around .75 is desirable. But I am a perfect hourglass which works in my favor. Little heavier than desired waist to hip ratio standards. However what I have noticed since I have became healthier and not so skinny, I get more attention from men. Never had this kinda of attention when I was a sz 6 as to my current 10/12. Then again I really don't pay attention to labeled sizes I go with what looks good. Always try it on, if not see the size chart for measurements.

* Additional fun facts: Did you know during recession periods a curvier woman is more desired? It's a sign of abundance and wealth. This dates back to (and I think, please write me andlet me know I am wrong and I will fix it.) But it actually dates back to the Grecian periods. Then again in the dark ages. Because a healthy woman was usually curvier and has the ablitly to bear children.

I'm just about honing my curves instead of straving myself.

Anyways... no more tagents!

Bumpit!! ooooh Bumpit good!

Bumpits. Are they the 2010 version of a banana clip? Who would know. I have been contemplating on trying this product. But for some reason I cannot get myself to make the full commitment. For $9.99 + my sally beauty discount it should be worth it, but why haven't I?

Pro's:
I have layered hair. So it should work.

Would add new ways to wear my hair.

Can really help with sexy French maid look to tease boyfriend. Bon Jour Brigitte Bardot!

I can appear to have more hair than I really have.

Con's:

Might end up looking like Miss Yvonne from Pee Wee's play house.

Might fall out.

Might never come out.

Might look like a pale version of Snooky from Jersey Shore. (Because all us Italians look alike.) *

Might look like a clean version of Amy Winehouse.

hmmmm?

Has anyone tried it? Likes? Dislikes? Has it ever fallen out? Let me know!

*predicting that the Bumpit will be a staple amongst the Italian American women along with bronzer, big earrings, Va Voom hairspray, Bare Minerals, Egyptian 5,000,000 thread count bed sheets, handbag sized Malti-Poo dogs, plastic on white furniture and having a perma-crush on the Gotti boys.

Ohhhh so sexy!

LOVE, LUST & DO NOT WANT!

Hello Beauties!

I'm starting a new segment called Love, Lust & Do Not Want. These are products that I am either truly in love with or I'm lusting over or products I want to dump.

Love: 7seconds leave in conditioner by Unite Eurotherapy

I have very weird hair texture. It's not curly, not straight. It has been exulted for the amount of body that it does have. Just recently my hair has done a 180 and now because of this product I can actually air dry my hair with out looking like a massive freak. I have been using this product for 3 months and I went from wirey to soft. It does not leave a build up in your hair. It does not weigh your hair down.

The claim on their website is their product will do the following:

1. Locks in color
2. Detangles in just seven seconds
3. Stylist's favorite cutting tool
4. UV Protector
5. Thermal Protector
6. Eva Longoria's favorite
7. All Hair types

Can't argue if Eva Longoria loves it, right?

This product is so good I do not need any other products. I mean other than shampoo and conditioner. But no silicon defrizzers which turns out the CHI & Biosilk are actually really bad for your hair and scalp. No pomades.  No gel. No mousse. Plus it really takes care of my color. I don't experience the bleed out and fade out like I have before.

Lust: NAIL POLISH. China Glaze to be exact! Nea at Fashioned in Finland started it! She had some gorgeous minty and lilacy nail polishes and it brought me back to a time where I coveted my HardCandy pale mint nail polish! I saw that China Glaze had issued out some pale polishes which I am sure 100% this is where the trend is going for spring. (My spidey scenesess are tingling!) Along with pale colors expect robins egg blue, lilac, lavender & green polish making a HUGE hit for the year.

Thanks to Alexa Chung's debut of fun turquoise polish last year:

Here are my spring picks:

For Audrey:

Refresh Mint

Light as Air

Four Leaf Clover:

Spontanous:

You can purchase any of these polishes at Sally Beauty or Nail Beauty 4U

Do not want!:

L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

Yuck what a mess! All I can say is clumpy, gooey and gives you Tammy Faye Baker eyes.

What I got vs. What I thought  I was getting: Lies!

This is a reenactment of texture of mascara till I find a new digital camera. Not too far from the truth when it comes to the texture and consistency of this mascara!

I don't know what else to say other than do not buy this product. I could think of many other ways I could have spent my hard earned $7.95 on worthy products rather than throwing it away on this shit. Not only was the texture of the product confusing but also lacked any control.I nearly gouged myself in the eyeball just trying to apply.Frustrations galore!

There you have it! My very good review on love, lust and do not want!

Let me know what you think. Leave a comment or DM me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/Darth_Mittens

New Year, New you!

I was on theFrisky.com and they had an article about purging your closet. It was about this gal who left her job and to pursue her dreams. Of course. But I guess funds were lacking and she need some cash so she started to sell things out of her closet like Hermes scarves and Donna Karan suits.

I don't have any of those things, however I do need a good purge.Let me rephrase that; My closet needs a good purge. I need a treadmill and a low sugar diet plan.

In my closet I have I have a gillion odd hoodies, but I have not worn more than 3. I have some really ugly sweat shirts. Some even more heinous tops and I was thinking to myself that maybe it is about to toss out last decade and my poor fashion mistakes and start anew?

I also have a lot of silly useless painful shoes. Shoes are my weakness and asking me to donate any of them is not going to be easy. I feel like a sense of guilt and then convince myself that ONE DAY I will wear them. I never do. But I tell myself that I do.

To start off here is my 'Dear John' letter to my closet:

Dear bizarre and odd fitting wardrobe,

So  new year. New me. Good bye awkward tops. Good bye ill fitting active wear!
It's not about you, it's me. Don;t worry you'll find a better more useful home than me.

I'm sure this will work out for the better. For the both of us. ;-D

Sincerely,
Michelle
