Dirty Little Secrets

Every morning I get ready in the morning I have GMA on  This segment Make Up's Dirty Secret: Haven for bacteria.Really caught my eye and I wanted needed to share with my readers.

First and foremost as beauty mavens I am sure we all know the guidelines on when to chuck old product. Some of us like to hold onto our favorite hard to find make-ups or think "well I have had this eyeshadow for 5 years but I barley used it so it must be still OK right?" No! It only takes one use and the the heat is on. Once you use your products you have exposed to mucous membranes, skin, open blister from a cold sore it will begin to build a petri-dish of bacteria like E.coli, streptococcus, pink eye, herpes to just name a few.

Secondly I'm not a doctor BUT .it's a known fact. Some people are growdy and don't wash their hands after using the toilet. So be careful when you are testing make up at the make up counters. A lot of folks would just bypass the testing applicators and just gouge their dirty little fingers straight away into the testing pallets. Which is actually very thoughtless and rude. But planet Earth is not a perfect world and a lot of their inhabitants ignore the fact they have to share this planet with other humans. So if your not careful you get pink eye because some doucheweasle (that is the word of the week, in case you may not know. @EvilAngel666 on twitter is making a point of using it as often as possible.)doesn't like washing her hands.

What can we do about this? First and foremost throw away that old make up! It's gross! and no one looks sexy with pink eye!  Also consider buying smaller samples of eyeshadow/blush or lippies. The really cool thing is independent mineral make up companies like Aromaleigh, Purley Cosmetics, Fyrinnae, Morgana Minerals, Glamour Doll Eyes (just to name a few) offer generous samples. So instead of ordering the whole eyeshadow, order the sample. It will last you a long time. Trust me! Most samples come in little baggies, Fyrinnae gives hefty samples in jars. Then you can use baseball card holders and a binder to store your samples. I have SO many samples there is no way I can use them all in one sitting. Order big on things like cover up, foundation, finishing powder or primer. This way you can save money and get more eye/cheek/lip colors!

I wasn't able to get an embedded copy to show here on my blog but you can check out the link here (PLEASE PLEASE very informative):

Guess what Bitches?

RuPaul's Drag Race season 2 Finale is coming up tomorrow on Logo Monday night 9/8c pm. The finalist are Tyra Sanchez, Raven and JujuBee.

This season I really found myself rooting for JujuBee and Tatiana because you can tell how real these Queens were.

With JujuBee when they had the Diva Awards and JujuBee opened up about her mom leaving her with her younger sisters to raise when she ran off with another man after her father died when she was 15 my heart just went out to her. I just wanted to give her such a big hug. It's hard when you loose a parent, that I know, but to lose both is hard and heart breaking and yet she was kicking ass. I really want her to win because I think that she really deserves this.

Tatiana is amazing. First off she is so beautiful and I find it shocking that she looks a lot like Britteny Spears only much taller. I love how Tatiana was just honest in this competition and she wasn't out to get anyone. She was just there but not a door mat she will tell you off if your acting like a bitch. Which she did to Tyra Sanchez. Good for her. Tyra was acting like a brat.

Speaking about Tyra Sancherz....She can't act. She can't dance and the only music she knows is Beyonce? Tyra Sanchez only survived as long as she has because of winning challenges and receiving immunity. I really hope she doesn't win. She has a snotty attitude and I don't like that she was bitchy to my favorite contestants. Well to be fair she was mean to everyone... but I really think she will have a very rude awakening when she gets all the way to the end and doesn't win. She didn't even know what the or where BOLLYWOOD is! Well the judges didn't catch on either. Maybe JujuBee should have worn a giant rhinestone fricken bindi to tip them off. (ugh!)

Statistically I think Raven will probably win more than likely only because I saw the upcoming commercials for RuPaul Drag U and there was a shot of JujuBee and that's telling me she might not win despite that I really want her to win. I know that Raven is a hard worker but she really is not as pretty as JujuBee & Tatiana. But she has a lot of balls and big confidence plus she knows the rules. Do what they want and when you go home you can do what you want. That is what is really going to win this competition.

I think that the one thing I really love about RuPaul's drag race not only because Ru makes a prominent effort to influence and mentor these Queens but even if they are runner up's just don't go away. You see them in other shows, commercials, award shows. So is it really all that bad if they don't win?

Speaking about RuPaul's Drag U... Onigina & Juju Bee?? I can't wait to see what happens. So you think they will be friends or will they try to kill each other? I can't wait to watch! I'm not too sure if I can choose between them. I'll just default to Nina Flowers if they start fighting because she's my favorite Goth Drag Queen. The way how she does her make up makes her eyes look like a pythons; Like she's just going to swallow you whole.

So I know what I'm doing at 9 on Monday night.. rooting for my favorite Queen JujuBee... where will you be?

New name: Spunky Purple Cupcake

Ok, I know I have taken a short break from blogging. I needed to just get the hang of my new job. So there are new things and well there is just new things to talk about.

I was having an issue with the Beauty Baroness naming convention. I really didn't feel that I was a ruler in beauty or that it fit what I really felt like talking about and I was a bit too qwirky for that name.  So new found work buddy gave me an invite to gmail. Of course I had to drink the purple koolaide and lace up my purple Nike's and get a gmail account. Problem is my mother was not a creative woman and gave me a name that was in the top 20 for the last 30 years which makes it impossible for me to get an email account with my name with out adding numbers to it but since my name is SO common I had to come up with a non-name for my sparkly new gmail account.

I went to a random screen name generator which asked me to plug in some nouns and verbs and stuff to which the name: Spunky Purple Cupcake. I liked it...had a nice ring to it. Now what the heck to do I do with it?! I can't just email all my little friends in my yahoo account and tell everyone hey... guess what here is my non-name gmail account. But the good news is you all can email me at here.

Only question is should I change my twitter name to match my blog? Leave me a comment and let me know: Right now it is Darth_Mittens but that is actually a silly joke about my cat Aoife. Whom is sweet but part evil. (She get's it from her dad's side.)

hmmm... well I do have this blog I can attach it to, give the blog a new name. So re-imaging. I really wanted to discuss more than just make up and until my new laptop is built (then I can FINALLY UP LOAD ALL THE PICTURES ON MY CAMERA vicious cycle with electronics... I know but really it is not so bad. I get new techish like gear. That makes me just as happy as ... well great cosmetics? Cute shoes? Well practically all things Kawaii. So Purple Dell laptop is in order. @Tattitorres loves her Dell laptop so I will follow suit. Hmmp. So there!

OK other news: Tried out 2 new to me make up companies: Fyrinnae pronounced fyeer-ih-nay and Purley Cosmetics pronounced Pure-lee Coz-MET-icks. (Just in case y'all were wondering)

They are both lovely companies and I high recommend them. I would like to give them each a long over due review of their products.  However I will leave you with a little spoiler:

I did find that each had a lot of lovely products however I am especially fond of these products:

Fyrinnae: Pixie Epoxy which essentially glues sparkly/glittery eyeshadow in place. A great tool Keeps your shadow in place ALL DAY. And I mean literally all day. But washes off with water.

Purely Cosmetics: Diamond Perfect Finish Powder which is an amazing product. Leaves our skin soft & velvety. Gives you a healthy glow without looking like your rubbed Tinkerbell's butt all over your face. Also makes you look great in photo's gives the soft-lens look without the soft lens camera.

**Please keep in mind it's not that I mind looking like I used Tinkerbell and a powder puff it's just it makes older skin look crepe and I'm not into looking like that.

I will post pictures in the near future.  Just as soon as I get my sparkly new purple computer.

Ok my fair Maidens... until next time!

Quickie

I did some mad shopping this weekend. But I guarantee it was everything I probably needed. (More than likely.)

I did my first order to Purely Cosmetics. I ordered the Oil Absorb & the Diamond finishing powder.  Which I needed. And some eyeshadow.. which I didn't need. I also ordered some stuff from CherryCulture.com  Which was eyeshadow, lipstick and nail polish. I did not need any of those things. But I wanted them.
I also went to Kohl's today and I got new bra's and panties. Those I needed. The 2 tops I also acquired in the process. I did not need those but justified that because I could wear them at work I should buy them. Plus they were cute. I was also at target this weekend. I bought new pj's (needed) barrette's(also needed, they are sparkley and cool like mermaid fins) new Percy Jackson book(not needed but reading right now) and gum(desperately needed).

Little bit of this. Little bit of that. Everyone always need new bra's & underwear. Plus reading is good for you. so is fresh breath. never know when you'll me Orlando Bloom. Not saying that would ever happen but just saying maybe it might.

Anyways. I have to get back to school work. I must study for a final.

Have a great week all!

I'm blinding you with science.

Last week I picked up a new product from Bath & Body Works.

Aromatherapy
Body Mist
Sensual - Sandalwood Fig $15.00
Feel irresistible. This fragrant body mist is infused with an aromatherapy blend of Sandalwood Essential Oil and pheromone to help boost your self-confidence and put you at ease so you feel irresistible. Spritz all over your body anytime you need a burst of romance.

  • Breathe deeply for best results
  • Never tested on animals
  • Fragranced with Essential Oils and other natural fragrances

Ok so does this stuff really work? I wore it all week and did not tell anyone I was laced with extra pheromones.  I did tell my boyfriend Jeff. To which he said this experiment would not work on him because he was already was in love with me so the pheromones would have no effect. I also reminded him that the night that I had purchased the sample vile of perfume. I was also given a hand massage with the same hand cream. When I got home I had picked up Aoife and petting her and snuggling her, not because I was experimenting but because I forgot and wanted to say hi to one of my cat's. Jeff said that pheromones won't work on cats because they're not people. Well I think it did because Fionn got a whiff of Aoife and bit her really hard. Which most knowledgeable cat owners know that is 'cat' for ' I think you sexy.' or 'I'm turned on by your scent.'

Jeff thinks this theory is utterly ridiculous. But he was not there for this unplanned experiment. So I'm right.

Other than the scientific attributes of this body spray what did I think of it?  Well at first I thought it stunk. But curiosity got the best of my so that is why I bought the little vile to test things out. An hour or so later I really enjoyed the scent I was giving off. To me it did not smell like fig, but something warm and green. Not so much floral as is just a green plant like smell. It rounded out later with the smell of sandalwood. It was pleasant and I really did like it.

Scientifically did I feel the pheromones worked? I thought this was appropriate for my first week of work. I did feel that the pheromones did relax me a little bit and I didn't feel over whelmed or nervous like someone should be. Just relaxed and light hearted. If you asked me I think that the possibility that it might have been a placebo effect that gave me the the suggestion of feeling more confident, not so much what was in the perfume, pheromones or not it could had been I believed this because it said so on the bottle and I gave off the sense of more confidence.

Would I buy this product again? I might get a larger bottle of this spray. I would have have to conduct further experiments to determine weather this product really works.

As for Jeff, well one whiff and he couldn't wait to get me all to himself. Despite already being partial to me already, I think this experiment might have had some effect on him hormonally. It also effected my male cat Fionn. He was more demanding of my attention. Wanted to be around me more and acted more like a shit to just get my attention.

So it might've work. Again further experiments need to be done in order to conclude final analysis.

I would suggest if curious go out and try it.  If anything you can have a lot of fun testing this thesis.

I'm a Sally Girl! (and I have no problem saying that!)

I love Sally's. I have loved Sally's since I was a teenager. It's not Sephora or Ulta, but it was there before they opened and there for my fist love. I love my current Sally Beauty in Carmel Mountain. The girls are very nice plus they have Kenneth. A stylist who was a colorist or was a colorist I think he still is? But he's always very happy to give good advice. Such a sweet guy. Scorpio, so works well around women because he's a flirt.

I went yesterday in search of some favorites:

Queen Helene's Jojoba Oil treatment( the best hot oil treatment on the planet)

A sample size  of Argan Oil ( I had the big bottle, but for some reason I think it went bad and tossed it so now I need it because the rain we all screwed up my hair. Something with San Diego water and  rain just really messes everything up. Despite being a very large city. Handling rain was always a problem here.)

Hairtrition: Shampoo sulfate free color safe shampoo Conditioner that prevents up to 63% breakage. Plus when you buy both you get a free full bottle of deep conditioning mask or leave in color protective spray. I went with the mask.

What is Hairtrition from Sally's website: You may eat right and exercise daily, but just how healthy is your hair? It might be lacking essential nutrients it needs to look its best. Hairtrition delivers the vital nutrients your hair requires to be unbelievably manageable, silky, shiny and radiant.

Hairtrition Color Protect products with Coconut Oil, Sunflower Seed Extract and UVA/UVB Protectants protect color up to 66% longer!* Sulfate-free color protect shampoo gently cleanses color-treated hair without the use of harsh sulfate or surfactants.  Color protect conditioner hydrates color-treated hair. Color protect leave-in detangler nourishes and creates a protective shield to lock in vibrancy and strengthen hair. Will not weigh down hair nor make it oily.
* Sulfate-free Color Protect Shampoo and Conditioner vs. a sulfate leading professional shampoo and conditioner.

Hairtrition Moisturizing products infuse hair with Lllipe Butter, Honey and White Lily Extract to moisturize and fortify dry, damaged hair while reducing breakage by up to 63%*! Moiturizing Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner hydrates and fortifies dry damaged hair. The 3-Minute Deep Moisture Treatment saturates dry, damaged hair and smoothes frayed cuticles.

*Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner and Deep Moisture Treatment vs. untreated hair.

So today is day 1 of using the Hairtrition program: Shampoo had a light coconut smell, medium suds. Clean rinse. Deep Mask had a green smell and silky feel when applied. Waited 3 minutes then rinsed. I think I missed a clump of hair in the back of my head because it was very dry feeling so I went back over the the regular conditioner  treatment only on the ends. Again very silky. Smelled a little greenish/ flowery but not over powering then rinsed. I really liked that they did not go overboard with the perfume in this line. With more expensive and inexpensive brands, because I am a migraine sensitive person I have to watch out for scents. Even strong smelling shampoo's can give me a raging headache.

This product is made by Zotos. Which makes a lot of products sold at Sally beauty, both cleaning, and retexturizing.

My hair is a bit temperamental. I can go good with a shampoo and conditioner for about 12 weeks before my hair screams that it does not like it and dry out and loose it's luster.

They says you get with you pay for, but I don't think this statement applies to ALL hair products. Some yes. Not all.  My hair has pulled this act with cheap and very expensive shampoo's. So I think this reverts back to my original theory that base the product to what works with your body chemistry. Same goes with your skin. What works for me may not work for you. My only hope is to give you some insight of where to start.

I let my hair air dry because the weather is weird and I have homework and I don't have the time to really mess with it. (I know I should be doing homework) I have been messing around way too long.) Ugh.. I need to stop procrastinating!

Eitherly... moving forward:

I did add a touch of Argan OilOne 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment is a unique finishing, smoothing and conditioning product derived from Moroccan Argan Trees. Compare to Moroccan Oil and save! Moroccan Oil sells for $40 a bottle. We are in a recession. I love my stylist. But I will not pay for this amount when I can find the same thing only cheaper.

So far so good. Very soft & silky. No dryness. So for $33 I got 2 bottles of jojoba hot oil treatment, a small bottle of argan oil, shampoo, conditioner and a free full size hair mask. Oh yeah and a bottle of China Glaze nail polish in Naked( because I am nail polish freak and can't help myself).

The Sally Beauty discount is amazing! You pay $5 to get started and then they give you a $5 coupon for getting the discount card to use the next month. Can't beat that with a stick.

Ok gotta go! the day is slipping past me as I stand still. Where does the day go?

ttfn! Michelle

Sundays Update

Guess what? I gots me a new digital camera! A Nikon CoolPix S203. It was $40 off at Target but not the reason why I bought it. The reason why I bought it was because it was because it was easy to operate.

I saw they had other cameras but I started to talk to the kid(I don't think he was probably not older than 17, when I had asked him if I could asked a question about the cameras his reply was simply: "What?" So naturally he had to be either a teenager or other worldly being like a space alien. But I'm going with teenager.) I explained I was technical but not camera technical so I told him what I needed and this was what he showed me.  He had explained that the other Nikon's had a lenses issue, but not with this model.  I kinda figured if it was really that big of a deal I could just send it to the manufacture and asked for it to be repaired. It was funny after I warmed him up a bit he was nicer to me. Because I asked him about other cameras and he was good enough to be honest and sell me something he would recommend. Apparently Polaroid doesn't do digital too well. :/  Weston(alien teenager from Target) also informed me why I had to be carded for buying canned air. Apparently a few weeks ago some lady had bought a few cans and was huffing in her BMW in the target paring lot. I know for a hoity toity neighborhood like Carmel Mountain? Soccer mom's huffing canned air? Does not surprise me one bit.  Would explain the shitty driving.

Did a test shot:

Me in my make up studio/bathroom rather impressed.
I didn't cut my hair it's just tied back. This is natural walk like an Egyptian texture.
I really love this top. 3/4 sleeves, boat neck and nautical stripes. Very classic.

I know that there are some unhappy reviews about this, but then again everyone is entitled to an opinion. I liked what I saw and compared to what I had before this is good.

I really wish I had thought to purchase a camera case. Maybe next trip to the store. Will put it on my list.

Additional news that bugs the shit out of me

Please remind me are we in the 21st century? Have we  all decided that cigarettes are really bad for you? I'm a former smoker so of course I'm the worst one of the bunch. I can't even stand the smell of cigarettes. So... I will let you guess who has this monstrous ad in their magazine:

Ok that's a mighty big ad. There are coupons for this product.

Diet pills and Cigarette's. Nice. Don't even get me started on the diet pills. I think the website 3 fat chicks said it best: If diet pills were any good for you they would be endorsed by your doctor not a celebrity or fashion magazine.

Are you shocked?  My disappointment goes beyond expressed. Out of all the magazines that are out there Marie Claire was the last I would suspect that would hock cigarettes. Diet pills? Fine almost all of them do but in this day in age to endorse cigarettes when we have been banning smoking everywhere else? I'm not OK with this. Scary things happen when you smoke, besides your skin gets all crepe and old looking, you smell like an ash tray, your teeth yellow and your hair gets wrecked. But have I mentioned that when you smoke and you are on birth control pills you greatly increase your chances of getting a blood clot? That is some scary shit. I had a friend who got a blood clot from Yaz and she didn't smoke! It's not worth your health, beauty or your teeth.

Ok Ladies. That is all for right now. I have to crank out some projects from my C++ teacher before he beats the ever living daylights out of me with his Deitel & Deitel Learning C++ hand book, the instructors guide.

I will have updates on my Sally Beauty haul. They have a new shampoo. Sulfate free under $9.00.

ttfn!

Ganguro girls

Have anyone seen this? When I first saw this I was like.... what is this? I couldn't stop looking away. I  know what was hot in Japan will probably be cool in the rest of the world 10 years later.  Personally I would not attempt this look. However I find it interesting to see what the context of beauty is in other countries. Strange as it is, this trend is spreading like wild fire.

The blog Pale is the new tan grabbed this shot. I think they were making fun of sunless tanner addiction and failed to see they actually caught some Danish Ganguro Girls.

From pale is the new tan.
I can totally see and understand our young Emo generation moving to this if Hippsterism is not for them.

What is it? Ganguro girls by definition from Wikipedia.orghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganguro_girl would be: Ganguro (ガングロ; "Black Face Girls") is an alternative fashion trend of blonde or orange hair and tanned skin among young Japanese women that peaked in popularity around the year 2000, but remains evident today. The Shibuya and Ikebukuro districts of Tokyo are the center of ganguro fashion.

Ganguro appeared as a new fashion style in Japan in the early 1990s and to date is prevalent mostly among young women and women in their early 20s. In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as "high bleached". Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-coloured outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and lots of bracelets, rings, and necklaces.

Ganguro falls into the larger subculture of gyaru (from English "gal"), a slang term used for various groups of young women, usually referring to overly childish or rebellious girls. Researchers in the field of Japanese studies believe that ganguro is a form of revenge against traditional Japanese society due to resentment of neglect, isolation, and constraint of Japanese society. This is their attempt at individuality, self-expression, and freedom, in open defiance of school standards and regulations.[2] Fashion magazines like Egg and Kawaii magazine have had a direct influence on the ganguro. Other popular ganguro magazines include Popteen and Ego System. The ganguro culture is often linked with para para, a Japanese dance style. However, most para para dancers are not ganguro, and most ganguro are not para para dancers, though there are many who are ganguro or gal and dance para para.

One of the most famous early ganguro girls was known as Buriteri, nicknamed after the black soy sauce used to flavor yellowtail fish in teriyaki cooking. Egg made her a star by frequently featuring her in its pages during the height of the ganguro craze. After modelling and advertising for the Shibuya tanning salon "Blacky", social pressure and negative press convinced Buriteri to retire from the ganguro lifestyle.[3]

As for style goes. I'm still waiting for Rhinstone Cowgirl to hit big in Japan. I would love to see it. Be it  Milan, Paris, London or New York City. Tokyo for me will always be the most creative and inspiring fo the fashion world. Be in Ganguro, Gothic Lolita, Maid Cafe, Kongol, Lolita, Cosplay or Harajuku.

Science to what you wear

Happy Wednesday Lovlies!

Monday I was watching the Tyra show and she had a very interesting topic. Did you know there is a science to what you wear to get what you want? I can't remember everything. I was getting ready for class when she was on HOWEVER I remember about 90%. Roughly. The important parts. Mostly. Anyways I was talking to my friend Marina aka YoungestSenior on Twitter because I have been obsessed with finding the right black dress to wear on job interviews. I found one through Chadwicks and she said it was cute, which resulted in a twitter spasm on my end about what I saw on Tyra on Monday. It's all about what you wear not exactly who you wear. So I thought I should do a recap on this. Which would I thought would be very interesting.

Here it is:

What to attract men: Wear Red. There is one little stipulation you'll attract everything. So you have to have patients while weeding out Mr.Right. Not unless settling for Mr. Right Now is what you are looking for.

Keep in mind don't wear red lips with red dress. Go with nude lips with some gloss which is preferred. Go with a smokey eye. That usually slays them. It was mentioned that a sexy nude lip was most desirable. Yes, we ladies prefer to slather on th ellipstick, sometimes coating with a gloss. But I actually took this from my man's perspective which is if he wore all that stuff, I wouldn't want to kiss him either. Shoot, I can't even handle smely dorito breath let alone slimy lips.

Wear blue to show fidelity. Might cut down on how many guys you have to weed through to find the right now.

What to wear to get the job: a black dress w/ pumps. Not a suit. Wear a nice piece of statement jewelry so that you will be remembered. 9 times out of 10 you will be interviewed by at least 1 woman. Wear cool jewelry and you'll stand out. BECAUSE the woman on the team will remember that and would like to see you back. Probably to ask you where you found said jewelry piece. Plus black dress with pumps sheer black pantyhose actually make you look very pulled together. Skirt suit. Very 80's retro chic. Which is not too good. This is a tough market gotta fight it out. So look your best.

Going to the Beach:One piece bathing suits are more sexy than two piece bathing suits. personally with the amount of ink I have I avoid the sun like a vampire or cover up in as much as possible when it is summer time. BUT if you are looking for a bathing suit one pieces are more desirable. The reason for this is because you want an air of mystery. Only show 40% or less of skin. Keep them guessing.

Hot Date:Speaking about shapes. What to wear on a first date? Try a nice form flattering dress. You are trying to display your waist:hip ratio. Again stick to the 40% rule.Guys are still have a little cavemen in them. So when they see small hips and supple hips they are going ga ga. Most men (I can't say all.) Really want a woman with womanly figure. So show it off. Think of the movie sirens as of the late 40's and 50's.

*If memory serves correctly it's the Waist hip ratio around .75 is desirable. But I am a perfect hourglass which works in my favor. Little heavier than desired waist to hip ratio standards. However what I have noticed since I have became healthier and not so skinny, I get more attention from men. Never had this kinda of attention when I was a sz 6 as to my current 10/12. Then again I really don't pay attention to labeled sizes I go with what looks good. Always try it on, if not see the size chart for measurements.

* Additional fun facts: Did you know during recession periods a curvier woman is more desired? It's a sign of abundance and wealth. This dates back to (and I think, please write me andlet me know I am wrong and I will fix it.) But it actually dates back to the Grecian periods. Then again in the dark ages. Because a healthy woman was usually curvier and has the ablitly to bear children.

I'm just about honing my curves instead of straving myself.

Anyways... no more tagents!

Bumpit!! ooooh Bumpit good!

Bumpits. Are they the 2010 version of a banana clip? Who would know. I have been contemplating on trying this product. But for some reason I cannot get myself to make the full commitment. For $9.99 + my sally beauty discount it should be worth it, but why haven't I?

Pro's:
I have layered hair. So it should work.

Would add new ways to wear my hair.

Can really help with sexy French maid look to tease boyfriend. Bon Jour Brigitte Bardot!

I can appear to have more hair than I really have.

Con's:

Might end up looking like Miss Yvonne from Pee Wee's play house.

Might fall out.

Might never come out.

Might look like a pale version of Snooky from Jersey Shore. (Because all us Italians look alike.) *

Might look like a clean version of Amy Winehouse.

hmmmm?

Has anyone tried it? Likes? Dislikes? Has it ever fallen out? Let me know!

*predicting that the Bumpit will be a staple amongst the Italian American women along with bronzer, big earrings, Va Voom hairspray, Bare Minerals, Egyptian 5,000,000 thread count bed sheets, handbag sized Malti-Poo dogs, plastic on white furniture and having a perma-crush on the Gotti boys.

Ohhhh so sexy!

LOVE, LUST & DO NOT WANT!

Hello Beauties!

I'm starting a new segment called Love, Lust & Do Not Want. These are products that I am either truly in love with or I'm lusting over or products I want to dump.

Love: 7seconds leave in conditioner by Unite Eurotherapy

I have very weird hair texture. It's not curly, not straight. It has been exulted for the amount of body that it does have. Just recently my hair has done a 180 and now because of this product I can actually air dry my hair with out looking like a massive freak. I have been using this product for 3 months and I went from wirey to soft. It does not leave a build up in your hair. It does not weigh your hair down.

The claim on their website is their product will do the following:

1. Locks in color
2. Detangles in just seven seconds
3. Stylist's favorite cutting tool
4. UV Protector
5. Thermal Protector
6. Eva Longoria's favorite
7. All Hair types

Can't argue if Eva Longoria loves it, right?

This product is so good I do not need any other products. I mean other than shampoo and conditioner. But no silicon defrizzers which turns out the CHI & Biosilk are actually really bad for your hair and scalp. No pomades.  No gel. No mousse. Plus it really takes care of my color. I don't experience the bleed out and fade out like I have before.

Lust: NAIL POLISH. China Glaze to be exact! Nea at Fashioned in Finland started it! She had some gorgeous minty and lilacy nail polishes and it brought me back to a time where I coveted my HardCandy pale mint nail polish! I saw that China Glaze had issued out some pale polishes which I am sure 100% this is where the trend is going for spring. (My spidey scenesess are tingling!) Along with pale colors expect robins egg blue, lilac, lavender & green polish making a HUGE hit for the year.

Thanks to Alexa Chung's debut of fun turquoise polish last year:

Here are my spring picks:

For Audrey:

Refresh Mint

Light as Air

Four Leaf Clover:

Spontanous:

You can purchase any of these polishes at Sally Beauty or Nail Beauty 4U

Do not want!:

L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

Yuck what a mess! All I can say is clumpy, gooey and gives you Tammy Faye Baker eyes.

What I got vs. What I thought  I was getting: Lies!

This is a reenactment of texture of mascara till I find a new digital camera. Not too far from the truth when it comes to the texture and consistency of this mascara!

I don't know what else to say other than do not buy this product. I could think of many other ways I could have spent my hard earned $7.95 on worthy products rather than throwing it away on this shit. Not only was the texture of the product confusing but also lacked any control.I nearly gouged myself in the eyeball just trying to apply.Frustrations galore!

There you have it! My very good review on love, lust and do not want!

Let me know what you think. Leave a comment or DM me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/Darth_Mittens

New Year, New you!

I was on theFrisky.com and they had an article about purging your closet. It was about this gal who left her job and to pursue her dreams. Of course. But I guess funds were lacking and she need some cash so she started to sell things out of her closet like Hermes scarves and Donna Karan suits.

I don't have any of those things, however I do need a good purge.Let me rephrase that; My closet needs a good purge. I need a treadmill and a low sugar diet plan.

In my closet I have I have a gillion odd hoodies, but I have not worn more than 3. I have some really ugly sweat shirts. Some even more heinous tops and I was thinking to myself that maybe it is about to toss out last decade and my poor fashion mistakes and start anew?

I also have a lot of silly useless painful shoes. Shoes are my weakness and asking me to donate any of them is not going to be easy. I feel like a sense of guilt and then convince myself that ONE DAY I will wear them. I never do. But I tell myself that I do.

To start off here is my 'Dear John' letter to my closet:

Dear bizarre and odd fitting wardrobe,

So  new year. New me. Good bye awkward tops. Good bye ill fitting active wear!
It's not about you, it's me. Don;t worry you'll find a better more useful home than me.

I'm sure this will work out for the better. For the both of us. ;-D

Sincerely,
Michelle
